Alas on the morning of my last day (10) of my antibiotic I got a full body rash. So that I admit has been a pain from recovering, because hello itchy patches/spots.
Anyhow I have been doing my best to focus on the good stuff.
One of my son's friends (and my friend's son) made me some homemade ice cream. It's delicious. I'm also so proud to know a youngster that wanted to do something so nice for someone else without being asked. Don't worry gang, I'm keeping the circle of consideration going with a thank you note.
A walk to the park and a chance to watch the kids play tennis on a terrifyingly gorgeous February day off.
Some experimental cookie baking. I first tried to make jam stripes, but I was failing and I was impatient. So I went with sandwich cookies, using Martha' Stewart's Vanilla Cookie dough recipe. I preferred the ones with jam, but kids do like Nutella. Also considering buttercream and lemon curd in the future -- since I still have half the dough in the fridge.
Also don't do this so late at night that you start sprinkling instant cocoa instead of sifting cocoa powder. Oh boy! Baking Shenanigans!
I am blocking a baby blanket and finishing another set of hats. Despite the fact I'm in a hurry I felt the need to cast on one with cables.
I have big dreams for President's Day weekend knitting!
I'm also hoping for an "Eating: All Clear" from the Periodontist this week and then look out! Crunchy tacos and tortilla chips for all my friends! I think I'm going to make a bowl of popcorn the size of my head!
Ugh! Gum surgery is the worst. Steve has had two grafts over the years.
ReplyDeleteThe cookies look very tasty and hopefully you'll get the all-clear so that you can have some too.
Ouch. I can't imagine but I did have all four impacted wisdom teeth out at the same time and it was NO fun. Never doing that again. Those cookies look amazing. Sandwich cookies are the best because you really get two when you say you are going to have only one. I think that way because I am a cookie junkie.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm glad you are healing OK. Sounds painful to me, but the homemade ice cream would definitely improve things!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have been busy, which probably helps with the healing (at least in my non-medical-expert opinion).
Bring on the long weekend!
I feel for you: I had a gum graft several years ago. I bet you have finger bruises below your lower lip. Send good wishes your way.
ReplyDeleteCookies look fabulous!
I had some gum transplants from the roof of my mouth a few years ago. It went very well. I missed the CRUNCH so badly though. How adorably nice of your son's friend to make you ice cream . WOW . And more Wow. Who does that now a days? Amazing. Applause to you and your son for having such a great kid around. I want those cookies.....I really do
ReplyDeleteThose cookies look very yummy and would be hard to resist. So glad to hear the surgery is behind you and hope the doc pronounces you healed so you can enjoy some of your baking! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteOh damn, girl. Ouchie. I feel your pain says she who's had a handful of perio surgeries. The very first one I drank Ensure and had yogurt for a week. Lost 5 lbs. Your Nutella cookie sandwiches look so good! My girls love Nutella up in here. I had to restock at the last Costco trip. Thank you very much for the well wishes for E. He is happier today, thank goodness and coping well.
ReplyDeleteThe first round of gum surgery I spent the next 4 hours driving a golf cart watching my daughter play golf. The 2nd round I went to a comedy show. Try to not laugh at a hilarious person for 3 hours!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for an Eating All Clear for you! But that is so very sweet of your son's friend to make the healing cup of homemade ice cream! Dental procedures always bring back memories of jello with little bits of fruit cocktail in it because that was what my mom used to give us to make the pain magically disappear.
ReplyDeleteOh those cookies look good!
ReplyDeleteBless your heart, I hear that surgery is not fun. I fear I have that in my future. We have three days off school this weekend, but I do not have three days off. Lucky Little Buddy will be able to have a slow morning with the sitter.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and hope that rash is better now.

my son had to have gum surgery when he was a teen, not fun. Glad you didn't throw up or cry (both great goals in life). Bummer about the antibiotic, don't take that one ever again in future. Your cooks look delicious!
ReplyDeleteI sympathize-I am in the middle of a root canal/crown work. Yowzer when your mouth hurts!
ReplyDeleteAnd now I'm thinking I might have ice cream for breakfast because that looks tasty!
