Proof that I have started work on the neighbor's baby sweater. Still just on the body right now, but the back and forth clickety clack of stockinette is calming and relaxing.
Hoping to finish this up by the end of the weekend and do a little work on my Mojito socks before starting another baby sweater.
What's your Wednesday's work?
Lovely sweater! Stockinette stitch is a joy to knit. I just finished a shawlette yesterday and blocked it last night, so knitting has been happening here, too.
ReplyDeleteOoo. Sounds good Nancy! I'm glad you are finding some time to finish up some knitting among all those quilting projects and other crafts!
DeleteThat is so cute. And the color would work for any gender!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It is a boy though, they have an ocean theme going on in the nursery and blue is such a soft warming welcoming color. I agree, it's far more gender neutral than we tend to think.
DeleteA nice, relaxing knit - looks good!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Vera, yes, very relaxing for not being socks, ha!
DeleteLooks like you've gotten quite far on that baby sweater! Love the color....I just finished a little preemie hat in that color. I belong to a knitting group here and we are making hats for the hospital and the homeless. Knitting for babies is so fun!
ReplyDeleteOh a matching hat. That's brilliant. I'm going to do it. That is some good-hearted knitting your are doing. Thank you, it's much needed. The kindness and the knitwear.
DeleteSo sweet! Nothing is better than making a baby sweater.
ReplyDeleteIt IS such a good feeling, Araignee. They brought him home yesterday after 17 days in the NICU. He's the sweetest little bean as The Kid pointed out. just a little bean ...
DeleteSweet! Yes, stockinette can be very soothing. This is very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'm reading your comment laughing to myself. I've been more stressed than I should be, and of course, I realize I didn't knit a stitch of this sweater in 3 days ...
DeleteLove the colour...
ReplyDeleteOn Wednesday I worked on train socks... today I'm working on Tux socks.
Your socks are always fabulous, but those Tux socks tug on the heart strings. Really, truly inspired.
DeleteIt is a gorgeous color Ellen, good luck with the finish.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mere. :)
DeleteHey Ellen. How're the mama and baby doing? He out of the hospital now? This is a great blue for him. I'm sorry you didn't get the position you mentioned in the last post. Perhaps something even better will open up for you.
ReplyDeleteYes they are home last night! Mama is such a strong woman, she seems fine to me. I just want them to settle in together at home as nicely as possible.
DeleteIt's good to see her on IB now and then; glad they're doing well. And thanks for the Yule Ball socks advice. I believe I will sit on it for a while.
DeleteEllen that sweater is going to be perfect. Mojito will wait!! It is early summer yet right?
ReplyDeleteIt is early summer. It's going by and reminding me how important it is to be grateful for every day of it.
DeleteStockinette can be SO relaxing. I can't WAIT to get to that part of the sweater I am working on.
ReplyDeleteI am doing sleeves now, and I have to be diligent so I don't mess up my decreases and they align. I have not sit down b/c I haven't had the proper block of time.
Deletethat is one lucky baby! gorgeous blue :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen! Baby blue or is it Sky Blue like my favorite soccer team, hehe.
DeleteThe socks are awesome! I love the striping for some reason. And the baby sweater will be adorable. Glad your soccer season is over, sorry about the job. Chin up, just keep swimming, and all that rot, hoping things even out.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris, it's all good sentiment and advice. I am and I will. Life is pretty good.
DeleteSuch a pretty color. Don't you just love baby sweaters? They finish up so quickly. What is your pattern?
ReplyDeleteHi Judy! I do love a baby sweater and normally I finish them fairly quickly but the summer has been relentless and I've been really tired. I've often opted to not knit at night so I'm afraid this is still not done. Almost!
DeleteThe pattern is Gramps by Tin Can Knis :)
Love that shade of blue! And now seeing your progress is bringing on the guilt trip because I still owe a handknitted baby gift. The problem is narrowing down the choices because there are so many cute baby patterns on Ravelry.
ReplyDeletethere are so many lovely baby and kid knits on Ravelry. I just need a sense of completion here soon. hehe.
