Snippets

I finished the first ball of yarn for my friend AV's hat. I was so excited. I decided to prep the 2nd ball in my project bag. I was sure I could finish it maybe the next day.

I tore up my apartment. The second ball of yarn continues to allude me.

No worries, that's what lunch hours are for. I bought a third ball of yarn to replace the second ball of yarn. Are you still following me?

This is the half a hat with breakfast. Okay not my breakfast. The Kid's.

I bought more hat yarn, because another friend has a request.

I didn't knit that much 2016. So far 2017 feels like a gift knitting year.

This is funny because really I have big dreams and plans of socks and sweaters and scarves.

Still need to finish the Christmas 2016 socks. I know.. I know... Have some faith in me, it will happen.

I want to

  3. Of course you will finish. Ellen, you enjoy knitting so it will happen. How fun to have your year as a gift year. Hat's are one of my favorite things to knit. Hugs

    1. Ha, Kathy I finished one sock. I'm now on the fence about #2. I might just pick it back up closer to the holiday season in 2017. Hugs to you too!

    1. Yes CJ. We are going to make fabulous wearable knits. I feel it in my fiber, crafty, need to do something bones.

  5. Don't place any deadlines on yourself: knitting should be relaxing and enjoyable.

    1. I very much adhere to this philosophy. I was just writing Kathy above that I can't commit to finishing xmas sock #2 now, ha! But I'm happily knitting.

  7. Did you go to Imagiknit? I miss living close to it.

    1. I did. I like atelier too, but Imagiknit is closer to me, walkable really. They all know me at Imagiknit now and are very helpful and kind. I have to not get distracted while I'm in there. It's difficult. Very difficult.

    2. I haven't gone to Atelier for a very long time. It gets such mixed reviews on Yelp. I can understand why there isn't any knitting at soccer; there's so much going on. That is when the skill of stockinette knitting w/out looking comes in handy.

  8. I love Imaginiknit! It would be so amazing to live near it!
Anyway, I hope you do some selfish knitting in 2017. Every knitter deserves to enjoy her own knits.

    1. It is a super spoiling situation. My husband knows this is one of his go to gift cards when he is not sure what to get me. (Good man) I will definitely do some self knitting this year, but ... I'm actually really enjoying the projects for others right now. I'm fickle folk. You know I could totally have a different perspective in 2 weeks, ha!

  9. I have big dreams too, yet I seem to be in the middle of controversial hat knitting. Ah well you know me I don;t scare off easily. Happy Knitting!

    1. Ah yes, me too Mere. But we follow our instincts. There are many people who differ but have done so expressing their feelings quite respectfully which I appreciate to see that ability is still in action somewhere, and then there are the ... well you know. All the best Mere.

    1. Thank you for the validation. LOL. I might be my own person but I do like when other people agree with me, ha! I finished the hat. feels good. And trust me that ball of yarn when it's recaptured will not go to waste. That yarn is a dream.

  12. I found something today that I have been looking for all week-it was just under the layer I moved but not far enough about 10 times already! At least yarn doesn't spoil!
    The hat has good beginnings!

    1. LOL, I'm glad I'm not the only person who finds things under the layers. This would be called my chair and/or desk in the bedroom :)

  13. More gift knitting is always a good thing. The most important thing is to enjoy the process! Things will get done when it's their time. I still have projects patiently waiting for me that are over two years old.

    1. Agreed. It's so important to enjoy the process. There are some things we do not get this luxury for, so bring it.

  14. Hats are the perfect thing to ease you back into knitting. Instant gratification!! Then you need a bigger fix, and then bigger, and bigger, until before you know it, you're knitting elephant blankets!

    1. Too right Chris! I am enjoying the hat knitting game. And I'm super focused on a baby blanket that though daunting is enjoyable :)
