Have knitting will travel with a smile.
What else? Well it seems nature is having her way with the Nation's summer temperatures ... again. Flooding, ridiculous heat. I worry for people that do not have the necessary access, support and infrastructure for such extremes. Some areas have patterns so they are prepared, some ... not so much.
Well not to humble brag, but I'm gonna. Here's a tweet regarding the bubble I live in:
Come to San Francisco in July they said— Drew Tuma (@DrewTumaABC7) July 25, 2018
It'll be warm they said pic.twitter.com/11nxnnF4RA
For the record. July is never warm in SF. It's infamously foggy. You get sun from 11 am - 4pm -- maybe in SF proper. I would say our warmer month is end of August - first week or so of October but I may be recalling my youth and not the shift that we've been recently experiencing.
Look at me, full blown grown up chatting about the weather. Ha!
I am reading YA right now. "To All the Boys I Loved Before." It's young, so easy and makes me laugh outloud. For whatever reason the main character reminds me of my sister. It's told first person, so that's the voice I hear when I read it. You could read this thing in like 4 hours, but I'm busy! I will finish it this weekend for sure. Then I will give you my final verdict on this summer read, along with a book I finished on vacation. I know, I will have read two books. WHO AM I?!?!
I am knitting a pair of socks, meaning I'm knitting 2 pairs from the same yarn for a mother / daughter team. One pair is done, I'm half way through the first sock of the second pair. Give it a little time kids. I'm working on it. I'm a very monogamous knitter these days. It's odd.I used to be such a project slut, but you know there's no shame here. Knit your life how you want to as long as you're enjoying yourself and all projects are consenting.
There are some people I think that were hoping for a few items a while ago, but it is what it is. I never made promises. I have to follow the knitting mojo.
Whats your whatknot? What's got you happy and what's got you fraying and fretting?

Your post reminded me that when people fly out of Eugene, the savvy travelers always remember to avoid SF in the summer! DELAYS DELAYS DELAYS!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy b/c Calypso the Alpaca turns 1 on Monday and I'm having a party for him on Saturday, but it stresses me out a little.
haha! Yes, foggy times in an SF summer!
DeleteCalypso is so cute, really I love all the pictures on your blog. I hope you didn't stress. I hope you enjoyed. xoxo
Our weather has been full-out crazy. Or maybe that's just the way it is in PA.......I know I'm enjoying having my windows open today. Never said THAT in July in Florida. LOL
ReplyDeleteYour posts always make me smile!!! I might have to look into those noise cancelling ear phones. That would take away a lot of the fraying and fretting in my life.
What's got me happy ---------house settlement in just SIX DAYS!!! Happy! Happy!
I'm so excited for you! I've been watching this journey of yours. But most importantly I'm glad you're back in the PA living life with the windows open.
DeleteI love the bedroom windows opened in the bedroom. Even when I'm cold there is something comforting in a sense of fresh air as I sleep.
Oh man, I'm in a state. See my blog tomorrow where I have a good rant. It's been a terrible week.
ReplyDeleteOh girl, I had a visit and I am exhausted and frustrated on your behalf. Hang in there. I'm rooting for you and saying some anti mosquito chants for you.
DeleteMy whatknot is 2, 2 afghans made up of squares. It'll be so much faster than a big one piece blanket I said. The first one I started in Fall 2016, for Diva. She may get it by this Fall, or maybe not. I am seaming it so I really have no excuse other than, FIFA is over, I hate picking up sts on 2 edges and 3 needle bind offs. Hmm, any other excuses I can come up with? Yeah, it's summer and I don't wanna do anything!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteYeah seaming is not my favorite thing and I seem to conveniently avoid the 3 needle bind off. LOL. Good luck, Chris!
DeletePS: I'm having FIFA Withdrawals as well.
DeleteI am usually a monogamous knitter. Ha! not lately. I have mixed up mitten knittin with shawl knitting with size one needle cowl knittiing. SO we've changed places! Im frettin about my son's job search altho Im trying not to !!
ReplyDeleteWe have switched places! Don't fret too much about ZB. He'll be just fine. These things can take a bit. Nothing but best wishes from over here.
DeleteI frazzled from all the custody fighting and putting me n the middle to try and make everyone happy--except me; I don't count!
ReplyDeleteI am happy to start a new quilt tomorrow afternoon!
You are in the toughest position. I'm so sorry. I am truly hoping things work out in everyone's best happiness AND interest. I'm glad you have a new quilt to help relieve some of that stress for you.
DeletePacking and toting has me frazzled, but it's all for an anticipated move. I've got a looong list of things to do and I'm managing to cross some off each day.
ReplyDeleteI haven't moved in over a decade and I can't imagine the amount of work you're doing. Wishing you lots of efficiency and smooth transitions!
DeleteI like your knitting philosophy Ellen. Knit and let knit....oops that might be copyrighted nowadays ;) I used to play the field but have settled down somewhat. 3-5 projects tops not including the 5 blankets always in the background. I loved To All the Boys I Loved Before. I blew through the whole series while traveling in Vietnam. I want to be Lara Jean.
ReplyDeleteI'm really trying to enjoy just any time I get with the yarn these days. Focus and time is constantly divided. I don't want it to be a chore.
DeleteAfter I read your comment I was like, what? series? I finished the book and then ordered the rest of the books. Fingers crossed they arrive today. hehe.
Such fun reads. I was giggling like a young teen myself!
we are getting a ton of rain and the cloudy days just keep adding up. Yesterday we had a pocket of sunshine and I ran outside to sit in it before it disappeared.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind a few days of rain or even gentle showers. Right now we are getting pockets of sunshine book-ended by mornings and evenings of fog spit. meh.
DeleteGlad you are home safely and readjusting to life again. Boys have very expensive taste, I should know with two adult boys who are forever in need of something techy and expensive. Hugs and have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mere. It's funny. I have friends whose kids and husbands want something all the time. Not that they get it or are vapid or anything like this, but you know much like some of us hobby kids. Where in my household both my husband and son don't really want anything for long stretches and then want something expensive. Something they often say they can both utilize and yes technie, like a new sound bar for the t.v. Meanwhile I'm begging them to replace stained t-shirts.
DeleteThat's going to be a Netflix movie I think that book? My teen has read at least of its series. I forgot to pick up one that had come in but oh well. SF has so many microclimates it depends upon where you are. My husband went to the Giants game last night w/my dad and brother and forgot how cold it gets.
ReplyDeleteYes, Steph it will be released on Netflix on 8/17. I thought the trailer was pretty adorable and already know what I'll be doing that evening!
DeleteAnd yes those Giants night games require a scarf and a beanie as the warmest summer day somehow turns to misty fog out here!
Can't wait to see those mother/daughter socks! Things here are way hotter than usual and pretty busy also. If you like YA fiction, you'd enjoy The War that Saved My Life and its follow-up. Me, I'm wishing for rain and can't even believe I said that!
