Fickle as a toddler on grandparent sugar, I gave up the pullover dream. I now want to knit a cardigan. I want to knit something that won't take me forever to knit. So I chose Common Ground, since it looks cozy. I remember liking the pattern when I saw it on the Nonmipareilcaso blog. I tried to be economical with my yarn choice, since I didn't have anything in the stash that would be enough. I also went for a dark color. I don't know how wise that was, but I feel like I am more likely to wear it if it's dark.
I did start a Cocoon in some leftover yarn for Knitspiring Odyssey's BALWM. This is the first time I've ever done a hidden increase. I'm not sure how it will turn out with this self-striping yarn, but that should add to the element of surprise with a new pattern.
Between the bakery and the bus stop is another one of my favorite craft stores.
I went to pick up the Downtown Abbey inspired knits magazine, but didn't feel like I would knit more than 1 pattern. The style is too specific for me, as lovely as I thought the patterns are. So, I opted for the Jane Austen.
And yarn ...and a hat pattern.
Oh my, you have some lovely projects planned and/or in the works.
ReplyDeleteI've cut back on purchasing magazines and books because I rarely knit any of the patterns. I've decided to save the money and purchase yarn instead.
Happy knitting.
Such restraint, Nancy! I should really do that too. I have a tendency to squirrel away the magazines for either a "need comfort" day or a long drive, preferably with a cup of tea :)
DeleteHmmm, you're making me want to start another yes another project!! Love love love cardigans :)
ReplyDeleteThe cardigan has a strong love this time of year. Maybe next year there will be a cardigan along ...
DeleteHa! Between the bus stop and the Bakery sounds like a BOOK to me!
ReplyDeleteIm fickle too. I knit that vest so quick, its full of mistakes; I now want to cast on socks, fingerless and a vest....must be FALL!!!
I've always wanted to write a book. Maybe you've given me the seed ;) I want to knit everything you just listed!
DeleteI love that cardigan, I had to put it in my Ravelry Library after seeing it. I saw the Downton Abbey Special Knit Magazine and loved looking at the patterns, but felt there was not enough in it I wanted to make for the price.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you,
Meredith
Exactly! Hugs to you too! I always read you with warmth, both your comments and blog :)
DeleteThat is a great cardi pattern! I like the way it'll hang. I can't wait to see more of your beanie! Ran into Ms. Grace this morn who informed me it's a small world as you two are neighbors! She's a cute one.
ReplyDeleteCrazypants we both know Ms. Grace! She is so sweet. I love it when I find out the nice and good people in my life happen to know each other. People love your BALWM!
DeleteLovely projects here!! I am still working on my first cardi.... I like yours a lot! It looks like it will be so cozy :) I also like the yarn you chose for your hat! Can't wait to see how it knits up :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I eyed a lot of patterns, and bulky yarn with a seamless construction really called to my lazy ass, ha!
ReplyDeleteSeamless knitting isn't lazy. I call it more efficient. Less time seaming means more time for projects. It's my preference in knitting too.
