I remember loving the colorway when I was in the craft/fabric store with my sister. The colors proved themselves lovable.
It was really fun watching these knit up.
The yarn is surprisingly soft for acrylic and was not as hard on my hands as acrylic can be. I wonder if it's the roving like texture. Regardless I'm pleased with the results.
Two of my friends saw the mitts I made earlier for the holidays and expressed their like so I put them both on my list. They both will do well with this colorway.
I posted one to Spain and one in SF at lunch. I hope they provide some warmth and comfort to 2 people that have always shown me kindness and comfort.
Knex Knitting Steps (yes, I'm knitting knerd enough to put a K in front of anything)
- I did it ChrisKnits! I have all but finished the Gramps baby sweater. I'll write a full debrief as soon as the buttons are on and the ends are weaved in. Hmm, where did I put those buttons? I hope they fit!
- Finish those Xmas 2017 socks because the 2nd sock is found and I'm about halfway through the foot ... I feel a finish around the corner.
- My cousin's Basic Rib hat! Because Little E is adorable.
What's on your knitting agenda?
I printed out a bunch of patterns today--stay tuned for the agenda!
ReplyDeleteYour shawl work has been on point Kim. I love watching your pieces come together!
DeleteThose mitts are beyond fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI did knit a few stitches today but I am so far from any FO's that I am getting depressed.
Thanks Araignee, don't be hard on yourself. Some days vs. other days. Keep stitching ... something will formulate and in the long run it'll make you feel better. Remember when nothing feels right? Knit socks.
DeleteSelfstriping makes any project more fun!
ReplyDeleteNext for me: Trying to finish the second Oakville sock, and casting on for the Second Blaster sleeve. A lot of second syndrome going on over here.
Self-striping is magic!! Your second syndrome will be over quickly. I bet you'll be casting on something new by the time I finish typing this!
DeleteThe mitts look very snuggly! I know your friends will appreciate them. It seems like EVERYONE is having a cold winter this year.
ReplyDeleteKnitting for me ----- Gladys socks in a vibrant dark red for February!
Thanks, D! I feel like the fingerless mitts are a good gift even for our mild winters out here. In fact I have a pair in my bag for the ballet tonight. LOL
DeleteBy the way that Gladys pattern is fantastic!!
DeleteI knew you could do it! I am on the 2nd sleeve on my current Gramps and just remembered I better take it with me to match buttons today. Can't wait to see your FO!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Chris! I honestly think if it wasn't for your positive support for this pattern, I would've frogged it, despite not having outright horrible errors.
DeleteGramps sweaters are fun: I've seen them but have never knit one. It's on my list. Looking forward to hearing your impressions of the pattern.
ReplyDeleteI'm knitting baby hats, baby hats, and even more baby hats.
I love old man sweaters. I still buy them for my son, he's just more reluctant to wear them. You'd think an art school student would be all over that. Alas, he dresses as if he's going to soccer practice everyday. LOL I actually don't care. I tell hi pull yourself together when necessary, be kind all the time.
DeleteI think your mitts have the ultimate preferred construction. RIbbed cuffs seem to make the mitts more stable and warm. I prefer the hand back to be not ribbed and just as you've created Nice job. Great colors
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy, my one criticism of this pattern is that the thumb gusset could be a bit longer. I've tried it where the cuff is a 1x1. Not sure how I feel about it. I've got a pair in progress, I think we'll be able to discuss construction on next week. Sending you my best. xoxo
DeleteFun mitts - love the colors! On my list: finishing Sock 1 for Son and starting Sock 2 (which will be reverse colors), and a pair of mitts I started this week - making some for next Christmas (so unlike me to do this so far in advance, but mitts are an easy fun knit).
ReplyDeleteThank you Vera! Ooo reverse sock colors! My son knows I will not knit him socks until his feet stop growing, but I don't think he really cares, since I find socks all over my living room and hallway (this has been since he was 3). I am going to hoard knit gifts for Christmas too :)
Deletebeautiful mitts! I'm working on mitts as well and a sweater for my son in law. On the sleeves, wahoo!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I saw some of your sweater construction! Excellent work. I've got a few more sweaters on my dream list for this year. I feel like that is symbolic of my optimism for knitting in 2018, hehe. I believe!!
DeleteI am loving your fingerless mitts! I am getting slogged down with the vests and short and sweet is calling me!
ReplyDeleteI think a vest would be an excellent knit for either my cousin's son or the neighbor boy's birthday later this year. Hmm. I favorited that pattern you featured too, thanks!
DeleteLucky friends! Those mitts are very nice. So glad you found that missing sock!
ReplyDeleteThank you Judy. It's all good stuff. I've already cast on another pair of socks. Exciting! We need to keep those needles clicking!
DeleteI like how the colors have a slight glow, like darker versions of glow sticks. This makes the mitts look so tempting to the eyes.
ReplyDeleteThe photo accentuates that, but yes the yarn has this roving fuzzy, halo quality a bit.
DeleteThanks on the last visit. Sometimes I feel we're really lazy. E and I said we'll do a family outing once a month but my toe's still healing so I can't really walk around too much.
DeletePerfect gifts for wonderful friends. No doubt they will be treasured.
ReplyDeleteMy knitting agenda...to knit with abandon. I like your knitting agenda as well.
Knit to abandon. We should get t-shirts, Andi. xoxo
DeleteMy socks are dees take five pattern! Awesome easy. Shes brilliant
ReplyDeleteOhhh love these mitts! The yarn definitely looks like a fun one to knit. I’ll have to pick up some on my next Michaels trip.
