Then I let it languish. I asked for his mailing address, thinking I would mail it.
I didn't.
I think I weaved the ends in around July.
I just put buttons on it last weekend.
Well, it's done. I had it ready for him on Monday. His leave was extended another week.
I hope the kid can still wear it when he finally gets it ;)
The funniest thing is I knit one of these for another woman last year and she liked it so much, she asked me to knit her son a larger size, so I'm casting on for this sucker again this weekend. Let's hope I'm a little more timely in my delivery this go around.
It's funny how we can lag with the finishing touches. It's like a total crescendo, knitting frenzy of the project, then a decrescendo as we get toward the end, to a ritardo to the last part. Nice pop of color. You're patient to CO another so soon. I always need a break after a pattern.
ReplyDeletewhen you're done with that,....i can send you a pile of my stuff that needs finishing, too, OK?
ReplyDeleteThat sweater pattern has been in my queue for a long time. Thanks for the reminder that I need to get one cast on.
ReplyDeleteIt really is the perfect sweater for a little one. And the perfect color, you are very thoughtful my friend.

ReplyDeleteI love it!! I have two baby sweaters that need buttons sitting around here. Why do buttons intimidate me so???
ReplyDeleteIt should be perfect, both size and weather-wise. Love the buttons!
ReplyDeleteAre you Okay after the earthquake?????? Praying for you
ReplyDeletebetter late than never and any hand knit is a wonderful gift no matter the time!
ReplyDeleteI have done this so many times with baby knits - and by the time baby gets it, he's too big! (They really shouldn't grow so fast anyway!)
ReplyDeleteI did this with a sweater and hat for my new grandson. It's still sitting here on a shelf. I'll have to donate it.
