Knit Night

Last night was Elementary School Knit Night. Yeah, I know The Kid has moved on to Middle School but you know, I like these ladies, and well, I like knitting ! Who doesn't love an excuse for knit night in good company? They were starting this group at the end of the school year and were nice enough to invite me, and so we gathered for our third meeting at Mrs. L's homestead with her in-house Fiber Brigade. Daughters #2 & #3 make excellent ball winders. I will be sure to utilize their skills at the next meeting with them.

It was good times indeed. My fellow Manchester City Fan and friend Ms. K. Got herself up to modifying a handwarmer pattern into an American Girl doll dress. This was after a narrowly avoided cat pee yarn incident and the dislike of an attempt at a black doll dress on the magic loop from an earlier meeting. Doll got a dress and Ms.K got an FO. Now, these big life dolls kinda creep me out (not as much as say, clowns -- I blame Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure and It by Stephen King) but I love this photo. ha!

I didn't get a lot of project photos, because we got down to it. There was some snacking and wine. Some people found us less than entertaining initially.

But by the end we had 3 new members.

Thanks so much for your kind comments regarding my blog postings. I'd love to be able to answer you back when you comment. Would you have an email address I could use? (If you don't DO that, that's okay too.)

  4. That doll brings back memories. Daughter had quite a collection in her time. I still have the sweater kit I bought to knit for them here-still in the bag. It's only about 20 years old!

  5. My partner's best friend is a die-hard Manchester City supporter too. (They're quite rare in this part of the world). I do so wish there was a Knit Night here to go to. Next time you meet, think of me here knitting all alone (cue violin). CJ xx

  10. Kewl! That looks like a great doll dress. My girls attended an American girl party and wanted the dolls after that.
A mum at our school wants to start up a knitting group. She wants me to be there of course. Told her Fridays work for me. We'll see how it goes.

  11. Hi! Can't find an email for you, so here's the Caramel Roll recipe:
    Aunt Jane’s Caramel Rolls

Using a Bundt pan, place about 18 frozen bread rolls side by side in pan. Sprinkle 1 pkg. butterscotch pudding over rolls. Melt ¼ cu. butter, add 1/2 cup brown sugar and ¾ t. cinnamon. Pour over rolls and let rise overnight. Bake in the morning at 350° 25-30 minutes. Let sit 5-10 minutes before removing from pan. (Aunt Jane’s note: I use more butter and sugar and don’t bake so long cause the kids like it GOOEY!)
