As I was wandering the aisles of my local yarn store looking for project yarn for Mrs. Canada, I spied some very nice Mad Tosh sock yarn.
I thought wouldn't my knitting pals love a little spring colorway giveaway? Technically the color is "Mansfield garden party".
And here we are. I was feeling feisty and have thrown in a lotion bar. Because you know what Mom always says, "moisturize, moisturize, moisturize."
You know how this works. If you'd like to be considered for the spring giveaway, please leave a Ravelry handle or some way of getting in touch with you in the comments. I'll draw a winner next week Tuesday, April 21st.
If you think your stash is sufficient as is, or you're not feeling the whole spring theme, maybe tell me what kind of garden person you are. Do you take a Jane Austen turn about the garden inquiring after your friend's family's health? Are you burying old Easter Eggs in the corner for homemade stink bombs? Do you like to have your Barbies and GI Joe's make war amongst the Basil jungle in your mother's herb area?
Yeah, I was always a problematic gardener. My mother had to give me my own plot of ... dirt. Nothing grew, things just went to be buried and there was occasional seismic activity. To this day, I do not grow things, I make them crunchy, dry, moldy and dead -- and just in pots since we have no yard, just garbage cans. Really, it's amazing they let me keep The Kid. Maybe this is why I like other people's gardens.
Happy Knitting. Progress Report soon.
I love to garden! But I love to knit even more! It's nice of you to share for this giveaway!
ReplyDeleteLOVE! When I was a kid, we would have to take and sweep. It would mostly be my mum and I out there slaving away. Living here in the apartment, we've gotten spoiled because my grandmother had nothing much to maintain. When we first started sweeping mowing, raking, and sweeping our new home's front and back lawns, my city girl hands got blisters. I am looking forward to going drought tolerant and growing herbs, fruit, and veggies.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a green thumb either. Even when I get things to grow, bugs or critters eat it. I have better luck with furry things.
ReplyDeleteLove the yarn & lotion offer, but I don't want to be in the drawing: my yarn stash needs to be brought under control.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to take a turn around the shrubbery like a Jane Austen heroine, but alas around here it's more dodging flying footballs and picking up pieces of smashed pots. I dream of one of those beautiful tranquil oasis type gardens though. One day... Thanks for the lovely giveaway Ellen, CJ xx
ReplyDeleteThis yarn is just gorgeous, and I love the colorway name!! I have never been to a Jane Austen-type garden, but they are so beautiful! I am a so-so gardener... I over think everything and get overwhelmed! Once everything is planted (thanks to boyfriend) and growing, then I relax and like to water and monitor the growth :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway, Ellen!
Jesse (oocha)
Love the yarn and lotion bar -- thanks for the opportunity, I love to have my husband garden - lol. And, he is quite good at it. I watch and sometimes try to supervise - ha-ha. We have a fairly large veggie garden and we are looking forward to home grown tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, etc.
ReplyDeleteOoh - that's a pretty skein!
ReplyDeleteYou pretty much know what kind of a garden person I am... I love it ALL!!!! I'm hoping to do a big expansion of mine this year... was just looking at Peonies online. Definitely want to get some sort of shrub this year.... looking at Lilacs and Butterlfly bushes... but then I saw a pussy willow!!!! Decisions, decisions!
Have you tried cactuses for your gardens? Lilies in pots are usually pretty easy to keep too - they just need sun a little watering. Day lilies are pretty hardy.
you have a generous spirit! I love to tell my husband what to plant, he does the labor and I get to enjoy the bounty :) We make the perfect team.
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous skein, Ellen, but my stash is bustin' at the seams already. As for gardening, I enjoy flowers of all types, and DH says I don't grow plants, I adopt them. Don't do veggies; not enough sun in our yard.
ReplyDeleteThat skein is gorgeous!!! I believe you know where to find me. Gardens? Um, just what are they? You mean places where things grow? Yeah, um, no, not here. Can kill anything that goes in the dirt. Inside or out, I don't discriminate!
ReplyDeleteHUCKMOM on ravelry. And since you asked I'm a rose gardener. I have 5 rose bushes in my yard . All red. I plan to plant some yellow or pink this spring. I lost one bush this winter...too shady I think.
ReplyDeleteINSIDE I only grow bamboo. Its pebbles with water only. No soil. The cats don't tip or dig in them. You have to use distilled water or water that has set a bit. (not straight from the tap) I want more bamboo. Mine are tiny and several years old.
Zach found one in China town in chicago and I asked him to ask the price and the lady chased him all over the market lowering the price. He kept saying, Im jus checking prices for my mom ! Never ask a price in Chinatown!
KNITTINGKAT on Ravelry. I am a long time herb gardener and try to grow a raised garden full of herbs every year. I like to dry the herbs and fill small mason jars with them to give to friends and family. We also have family members "stop by" to cut fresh herbs several times a week.
ReplyDeleteWell of course I am interested int he yarn, it reminds me of ice cream. I am Mereknits on Rav, but you know how to get a hold of me. And of course my garden needs to be watered and weeded. But I want to knit instead!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
What a lovely yarn! :)

I'm with you love, I tend to make things crunch and dead in the planting department. :)
ReplyDeleteThis yarn would make some fabulous Spring-y socks. Thank you for the lovely giveaway.
My garden consists of two very hot pepper plants (Carolina Reaper and some sort of habanero), one carnivorous plants in the front yard, a couple of tilansandias (air plants) -one big, one small, and about 20 orchids.
ReplyDeleteAnything put out in the yard just becomes deer fodder. :-(
Lovely yarn - thanks for the opportunity!
